High Drop defense raises the screener's defender to make it easier to contain the ball handler compare to a low drop defense.
The screener's defender steps up higher to challenge the ball handler, preventing pull-up threes and limiting space in the middle of the court.
The on-ball defender must ensure the ball handler uses the screen, as the screener's defender is positioned to contain them on that side.
