2v2 Continuous Rebounding & Shooting

Purpose:

Fast-paced Game-like rebounding drill that helps players grab a rebound and immediately try to score. Great conditioning drill and builds toughness.

Develops player's pivoting, rebounding, put-backs under pressure, conditioning, and communication with teammates.

Setup:

  • Designate a shooter.
  • Two teams of two are positioned under the basket.
  • Perimeter players pass the ball to the shooter. Use several balls.
  • First team to 3 wins.

Points of Emphasis:

  • Rebounders should continuously fight for position.
  • Work on pivoting to create space.
  • Be strong with the ball (chinning) and make strong moves to score.

Coaching Tips:

  • Teach your players to have a quick second jump after their initial rebound.
  • Emphasize the importance of getting between their opponent and the basket and using their body to create space.
  • Emphasize the importance of securing the ball with two hands after grabbing the rebound. Teach your players to protect the ball from opponents attempting to strip it or tip it away.

  • 1 is the shooter.
  • Two teams of two are positioned under the basket (6/7 & x6/X7).
  • Perimeter players pass the ball to the shooter. Use several balls.
  • Whoever rebounds the ball (6/7 & x6/x7) they are on offense and immediately attempt a shot. They can pass (bounce pass) to their partner.
  • When the ball hits the ground, it's dead, and rebounders should kick it out to the passers. Players are not allowed to dribble. They must work on pivoting and getting open. All play takes place a few feet from the basket.
  • First team to 3 wins.
