Zona (Down)

Type: Continuity with motion and multiple PNRs.

Spacing: Good use of strong-side action with weak-side exchange.

Purpose: Designed to get driving lanes for guards and roll opportunities for bigs, with shooters spaced in corners.

Options: Multiple—drive/kick, roll/lob, skip pass weakside, or top re-entry.

Bigs Screen Down

1 at top of the key with the ball.

2 and 3 start on the low blocks; 4 and 5 at the elbows.

2 and 3 each receive a flare screen from 4 and 5 respectively, popping out to the wings.

Cut

1 passes to 2 on the right wing.

3 cuts to the left corner, clearing the top.

4 and 5 drop down to the low blocks, creating space for the next action.

Screen and Roll

4 sets a ball screen for 2.

2 uses the screen to drive middle.

4 rolls to the basket.

5 flashes up to the high post, possibly as a safety valve.

Fill

5 now holds the ball near the top.

4 and 2 drop to the low and wing areas respectively, resetting spacing.

3 sprints baseline from the left to the right corner.

5 still has the ball on the left side, possibly waiting for the screen/cut to develop.

Ball is swung from the top toward the left side.

4 slides down weakside while 1 hits 3 with a skip pass in the right corner.

5 begins to retreat to defensive balance or transition defense.
